Pian del Lupo from the Casavecchia winery is a fantastic introduction to Piedmont’s ultimate king of grapes, Nebbiolo. The grapes are grown on the sunny slopes of the Langhe region, where the soil’s unique composition of clay and limestone lends the wine great freshness and fine minerality. While Barolo often requires many years of cellaring, this Langhe Nebbiolo is crafted to deliver immense drinking pleasure at a younger age, without compromising on classic complexity.

Traditional Vinification with Respect for Terroir

Following a meticulous manual harvest, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation with extended skin contact (maceration) to extract the finest aromas and color. The wine is subsequently matured in large, traditional oak casks. This gentle aging rounds out the firm tannins that the Nebbiolo grape is famous for, creating a perfect balance between fresh primary fruit and subtle spicy oak notes.
