A Rediscovered Tuscan Treasure in the Glass
From the passionate and uncompromising winery Podere Giardino in the heart of Tuscany comes a true revolution of a “Super Tuscan.” While many other producers in the region rely on classic French grapes such as Merlot or Cabernet for their IGT wines, Podere Giardino has chosen a completely different and deeply authentic path with Lamoni. The wine is crafted from a unique blend of two extremely rare, indigenous Tuscan grape varieties: Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello. Almost extinct for decades, these grapes have been resurrected because they deliver unmatched depth, density, and a truly distinct local identity.
One Year in French Oak for Perfect Harmony
Both Foglia Tonda and Pugnitello are known for producing wines with intense, dark color, vibrant acidity, and rich, firm tannins. To harmonize these lively and authentic forces, Lamoni is aged for a full year in fine French oak barrels(rovere francese). The oak aging beautifully rounds off the dense tannins and imparts a sophisticated complexity without overpowering the original, deep, and spicy fruit character of the grapes.
