A Unique Interpretation of Tuscany from Poggerino
Primamateria from Poggerino is a fantastic, intense red wine that beautifully combines Tuscany’s pride, Sangiovese, with the international elegance of Merlot. The grapes are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles in Poggerino’s high-altitude vineyards in Radda in Chianti, where the stony, limestone-rich soil (Alberese) imparts a distinct minerality, depth, and extraordinary structure to the wine.
Traditional Barrel Aging for Maximum Complexity
Harvesting is done entirely by hand, selecting only the absolute finest and perfectly ripened bunches. Following a careful, temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve all fruit intensity, the wine ages in French oak barrels for approximately 18 months, followed by extended bottle aging before release. This process rounds off the tannins seamlessly, adding complex layers of spicy and oak-aged undertones without overpowering the fresh fruit.
